Amulet is part fantasy, part manga and 100% fun.

I discovered the work of Kazu Kibuishi about five years ago after purchasing an anthology graphic novel called Flight, Volume One. Anthology graphic novels are a great way to explore a wide variety of work in one book. The editor of Flight is Kazu Kibuishi and Volume One featured a tale from his glorious series called "Copper" which really caught my eye.
Needless to say, I was thrilled to discover that there was a stand-alone book of Copper
comics and I picked that up as soon as I could. Copper is a book that I return to and re-read all the time. Taking on the quality of a modern day Charles M. Schulz, Kazu follows the life of a boy named Copper (the eternal optimist) and his dog, Fred (his faithful and sometimes grumpy companion). But almost as valuable to me as the great stories inside the book was a very detailed and gracious Behind the Scenes look at Kazu's process. I highly recommend that any creative person be sure to find a place on their shelf for this inspirational book.
Speaking of inspirational, Flight, Volume Two
contained a story by Kazu called "The Orange Grove" which I rank as one of the most powerful, melancholy, touching and romantic stories I have ever read.
Young readers can rejoice in the discovery of Flight Explorer
(an anthology book geared for a younger audience, which is just as inspiring).
But Kazu's main attraction right now is the New York Times best selling Amulet
graphic novel series. Amulet is a fantastic fantasy yarn that follows a family on a journey to a world of magic, mystery, walking houses, heroes, monsters, elves, and robots!
Thank you, Kazu, for your wonderful work and I look forward to the many adventures you plan for us (your faithful readers) in the future!
